Thank you Barack!

Yolanda,

I just had to pause in my busy day to give my new President a shout of gratitude!

I have long been an advocate of women's health and reproductive freedom. So I am overjoyed that as one of his first executive acts Barack Obama has overturned the Global Gag Rule.

Now overseas health care providers will be able to offer counseling, referrals, and services for the full range of reproductive health options to women without fear that the U.S. government will strip them of their funding.

It appears common sense is back in Washington. Once again it is cool to value women's lives and protect the sacred trust between doctors and patients.

I was delighted to hear this as well!

Also want to say how much I enjoy reading The Kitchen Table. Thank you for hosting these conversations.

I mean it, Ladies; I'm a little happier every day with this president. He's the first one in my lifetime to make me feel truly engaged and hopeful. Every day, I'm less ashamed to be an American.

I'm echoing Sandy - thanks for this space!

Yep, there's nothing like tax payer funded abortion to make me want to celebrate!

Good to see concrete and positive action from the beginning.

This OT but I woke up this morning to the Moyer's Journal interview you did and I just wanted to say thank you for giving me food for thought ("and thought for food") about the meaning of public intellectualism, representation, and the importance of black women in the public eye.

I am looking forward to your new book as much as mulling over your insight this weekend.

If common sense is back in Washington , and I believe that it is , I certainly hope that Team Obama shows COMMOM SENSE and brings the important issue of CROSS CONTAMINATION ( especially the cross contamination that happens in the churches every Sunday ) to the forefront .

Do any members of Team Obama read this blog ? I hope so !
